Project Description
The Seminoe Pumped Storage project is a proposed “reservoir-based energy storage project” that would be constructed above the Seminoe Reservoir. This project would require construction, blasting, and heavy truck traffic in the bighorn sheep crucial winter range foran estimated 5 years.
Due to the negative impacts this project would have on the Ferris-Seminoe Bighorn Sheep Herd, the WY-WSF has been tracking this project and working collaboratively with other organizations to provide comments in opposition to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission throughout this process. Most recently, the Draft EIS for the project was issued on September 26, 2025. The project proponents are asking for exemptions to all wildlife timing stipulations for this project, and if allowed to proceed, this could have devastating consequences to our only M.Ovi free bighorn sheep herd in the state.
